Introducing Some of the Winning Entries from the FY2024 City of Shizuoka SDG Partnership Awards
What are the SDG Partnership Awards?
The SDG Partnership Awards invite companies and organizations to submit their collaborative initiatives aimed at solving local challenges. The awards recognize groups that conduct activities that are easy to replicate and encourage participation.
Some of the Winning Entries:
Grand Prize:Most Outstanding,Highly Replicable Initiative
- Title:Creation of a Friendly Business Map for LGBTQ Couples
- Group Members:
Shizuoka University LGBTSociety “Grandiose”, Shizuoka University, Shizuoka Gender Equality Center Exchange Conference(NPO),and Shizuoka LGBTQ+(NPO)
- Overview:
Led by students from Shizuoka University’s LGBT Society,“Grandiose”,the group created a map listing shops in Shizuoka’s city center where same-sexcouples can visit comfortably.They also designed logo stickers to identify these LGBTQ-friendly businesses.
- Targeted SDG:
- Feedback from the Selection Committee:
The collaboration between students,educational institutions,businesses,and private organizations to promote social inclusion for all people,regardless of gender and sexual orientation,is highly commendable.
Local 2030 Hub Special Award:An Initiative Worth Adopting in Overseas Cities
- Title:SDG Environmental Education Program“The Infinite Potential of Bagasse Containers”
- Group Members:
S-PulseCo.,Ltd.,OrikaneCo.,Ltd.,IzukawaFeedCo.,Ltd.,and NanairoCo.,Ltd.
- Overview:
This programuses containers made from bagasse,a byproduct of sugarcane processing,at events and provides an opportunity to learn about ethical consumption by contrasting them with plastic containers.Used bagasse containers can be decomposed insoil,and there are plans to cultivate vegetables using this soil in the future.
- Targeted SDG:
- Feedback from the Selection Committee:
Bagasse,derived from the globally abundant sugarcane plant,is an environmentally friendly material.This initiative contributes to SDG12 by repurposing bagasse,which would otherwise be treated as waste.
