忍師に次して贈る

清見寺にはかずらは黒く多くの松樹（しょうじゅ）は所を得ておさまっている。陸路での騎馬（きば）を返し、大坂からは舟を使う。夜の底に響く鐘の音を独り聞きながら、露を置く蕉梧（しょうご）をみると、もはや秋が近いことが知れる。東海中にあるという神仙三山への願望があり、幸い使節として東にきたが、遥かに遠いようだ。よって、異国での海上の月を詩に賦そうと思う。行く手には草木が茂って燈火がとどかず、どうにかして瀧の音を聞こうとして再び楼台に登っているのである。

The vines are black at Seikenji, and many pine trees are in their rightful place. We returned the horses for our overland route, and will use a boat from Osaka. As I listen, solitary, to the sound of the bell as it reverberates to the bottom of the night, and looking at the dew-covered bananas and phoenix trees, I can sense that fall is already here. I wish to go the three mountains in the eastern sea where the shenxian dwell, and though I have had the fortune of coming east as an envoy, they still feel distant. As such, I am compelled to compose a poem about the moon over the ocean in this foreign land. My flame cannot reach ahead of me where grass and trees grow wild, and all there is to do is once again climb the tall tower to listen to the sound of the waterfall.

제천의 덩굴 숲 어둡고 솔밭은 죽죽 뻗었는데
말 안장에 돌아가려는 마음 대판의 배로다.
종과 풍경소리 안개에 묻혀 홀로 밤을 당하니
파초와 오동 이술 떨어져 가을에 가깝구나.
삼신산 빚이 되어 선계의 구름 멀고
이역에서 시 짓노라 바다에 달빛 흐르네.
가야 할 길이 등불 너머 창창하기에
언제 다시 폭포소리 듣고 누각에 오를까?
